Chattanooga Obituary Index

This is a searchable index to obituaries published in Chattanooga newspapers, 1873-present. Each index entry lists the individual's name, date of obituary publication, and the newspaper in which it was printed.  The index is created and maintained by the Local History and Genealogy Department, Chattanooga Public Library.  Please note that the index contains a high volume of records and may load slowly. For faster results, try searching the Obituary Index through the Library Catalog. 

The index does not provide digital copies or transcriptions of the obituaries themselves; the index is intended to provide the source information needed for researchers to locate the original obituary using the microfilm copies of the newspaper available on site in the Local History & Genealogy Department or other sources.
