Description
A descendant of early settler Hamilton County families, Allen was a noted authority on the history and genealogy of the region and on that of the Cherokees. During the 1930's, she wrote the important genealogical series "Leaves from the Family Tree" and was state coordinator for the WPA Historical Records Survey project. This collection consists of many of her working papers in researching the Johnson, Allen and allied families, as well as materials related to various historical subjects. Records include correspondence, family papers, notes, charts, transcriptions,
newspaper clippings, photographs and negatives.
