Two views of the Snodgrass House, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park George Washington Snodgrass House, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. House was used as a field hospital and as a headquarters for General George Thomas during the Battle of Chickamauga. The first national military park, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park was created by an Act of Congress in 1890 and dedicated in 1895. The majority of the park is located in Catoosa and Walker Counties, Georgia, but some sections are in Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, while others are in and around Chattanooga, Tennessee. Bottom photograph is of a picture of the Snodgrass House originally published in Views by Charles D. McGuffey (MacGowan-Cooke Printing Company, 1905); picture itself is 00005844. Two views of the Alexian Brotherhood Health Resort Alexian Brotherhood Health Resort at Signal Mountain, Tennessee. Formerly the Signal Mountain Hotel or Inn built in 1913, the hotel was bought by the Alexian Brothers International Order of Mercy and Care in 1936 and converted into a convalescent home for boys and men. It was also called Rest Resort and Rest Home. Presently (2005) it is called Alexian Village and offers retirement apartments, assisted living and nursing home care.
