Cavalier Corporation scrapbook Scrapbook containing advertisements for Cavalier Corporation primarily for furniture and cedar chests. The company was started in 1905 as Odorless Refrigerator Company. Name changed to Tennessee Furniture Company in 1919, and then to Cavalier Corporation in 1938. Maker of vending machines, appliances and furniture, located at E.9th Street (later Martin Luther King Boulevard) and Central Avenue, Chattanooga, Tennessee from 1905-2000.

Holmes was at 332 Market Street, Chattanooga, in 1916, 318-320 Market Street from 1917-1923, 700 E. Main Street 1923-1937 and finally 2505 E. 43rd Street in 1937. Company manufactured automobile wrecker units.

Wheland Foundry being honored for war work Wheland Foundry being honored for its work during World War I. Located on South Broad at 28th Street, Chattanooga, Tennessee, the foundry was originally established by George W. Wheland in 1866 in Athens, Tennessee. Moved to Chattanooga 1873. Acquired by Gordon P. Street in 1945, the foundry made sawmill components, oil field drilling equipment, steam engines, anchor windlasses, guns, shells and automotive casings. It closed in 2002 and was demolished in 2004. Mounted with and filed under 00005287.

Typed text on photo reads: "From 1890 to 1928 the Walsh & Weidner Boiler Co. survived Depression and disaster and emerged stronger than ever, gradually acquiring more and more property in the area that had been known as 'Tannery Flats' because of the earlier tenancy of a huge stock yard and tannery, the United States Leather Co. On February 4, 1897, the Walsh-Weidner plant was almost completely destroyed by fire. The insurance coverage paid only {dollar}2,000.00."
